The big news for 2009: the X5 xDrive35d. With BMW's Advanced Diesel twin-turbo inline six under the hood, it's a smooth, fuel-efficient performer, packing 265 hp and torque that's worthy of a V-8: 425 lb-ft at 1750 rpm. It also meets the strict emissions standards of all 50 states.
BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive also works with the Dynamic Stability Control system to deliver confident traction, enhanced with Brake Stand-by and braking-assist features. Optional Adaptive Drive enhances sporty performance while reducing body roll; optional Active Steering3 delivers sharper steering response at lower speeds, and more stability at higher speeds.
IInside, expertly crafted leather upholstery4 and premium wood trim set the stage for optional features, such as a popular rearseat entertainment system, or Active Ventilated front seats. New options, such as heated rear seats in the Cold Weather Package, and Automatic tailgate in the Premium Package, enhance comfort.
